EDM Operator | Rockford, MI

Salary Range: $45,000 - $74,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and monitor Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) equipment.
• Read and interpret engineering blueprints, schematics, and work instructions.
• Perform in-process and final quality inspections using precision measuring instruments.
• Load and unload workpieces, fixtures, and electrodes into the EDM machine.
• Select appropriate electrodes, tooling, and machining parameters based on job specifications.
• Troubleshoot and resolve minor machine alarms, errors, and process deviations.
• Conduct routine maintenance and cleaning of EDM machines and work areas.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proven experience operating and setting up EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) equipment, including Wire and/or Sinker EDM.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints, technical specifications, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and height gauges for quality inspection.
• Familiarity with G-code and M-code for loading programs, making offsets, and basic machine control.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic machine adjustments and minor troubleshooting.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with CAD/CAM software for interpreting designs or minor program adjustments.
• Proficiency in other precision machining processes (e.g., CNC milling, grinding).
• Basic electrical or mechanical troubleshooting skills for machine maintenance.
• Knowledge of advanced metrology tools (e.g., CMM, optical comparators).
