Service Director / Maître

Modern Michelin-Starred Italian Restaurant — SoHo, NYC

An exceptional opportunity to join a   new, modern Michelin-starred Italian restaurant   in the heart of SoHo. This concept is defined by precision, elegance, and a highly refined approach to hospitality, led by an accomplished Owner and Executive Chef with a clear vision and strong operational discipline.

The restaurant features approximately  70 indoor seats and 30 outdoor seats , with distinct service experiences across both areas. The level of cuisine, service, and guest expectation is aligned with the highest international fine dining standards.

The Role

We are seeking a   Service Director / Maître  — a polished, detail-oriented, and service-driven leader who thrives in a high-performance environment.

This is a   hands-on leadership role on the floor , not a purely administrative position. The Service Director will act as a key liaison between Front of House and Back of House, ensuring seamless coordination and execution of service at all times. The ideal candidate will bring a strong presence, refined hospitality instincts, and the ability to lead by example in delivering an elevated guest experience that matches the level of the cuisine and the overall concept.

This role reports directly to the   Owner & Executive Chef (acting General Manager)  and offers meaningful opportunity for growth, both professionally and financially, for candidates who demonstrate long-term commitment and alignment with the standards of the restaurant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the dining room team with professionalism, clarity, and consistency

  • Ensure impeccable service execution and attention to detail across all guest interactions

  • Serve as a host and ambassador of the restaurant, welcoming and managing VIP clientele

  • Oversee and maintain a smooth and efficient flow of service between kitchen and front of house

  • Uphold and continuously elevate Michelin-level service standards

  • Maintain an active presence on the floor, supporting the team and anticipating guest needs

  • Collaborate closely with the Wine Director and leadership team

  • Execute and oversee tableside service and guest engagement

  • Train, mentor, and develop the front-of-house team

  • Foster a culture of accountability, excellence, and hospitality

Qualifications
  • Minimum  2+ years of leadership experience   in Michelin-starred or luxury fine dining environments

  • Proven experience as a   Maître, Service Director, and senior FOH mgmt leader

  • Strong understanding of formal service standards and fine dining etiquette

  • Solid wine knowledge required;   sommelier certification preferred

  • Excellent communication skills and strong guest engagement abilities

  • Professional, composed, and charismatic presence on the dining room floor

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to perform under pressure

  • Comfortable leading service hands-on on a daily basis

  • Impeccable personal presentation;   formal attire required

  • Fluency in English required; Italian is a plus

Compensation & Schedule
  • Salary:  $95,000 – $120,000, based on experience

  • Schedule:  5 days per week

  • Benefits:

    • Health care stipend

    • 2 weeks of paid time off

  • Clear path for growth and increased responsibility for high-performing individuals

About the Concept

This restaurant represents a refined and contemporary expression of Italian cuisine in New York City, where culinary precision is paired with thoughtful, disciplined, and elevated service. The operation is highly organized, detail-driven, and committed to delivering a consistent, high-level guest experience. This is an ideal opportunity for a hospitality professional seeking to be part of a serious, quality-focused environment with strong leadership and long-term vision.
