  • Unload trucks and bring products onto the sales floor.
  • Stock shelves, coolers, and freezers with new items.

  • Refill endcaps, sale areas, and busy sections of the store.
  • Open boxes, sort products, and keep the stockroom organized.
  • Scan items or enter information into the store’s inventory system when needed.
  • Remove damaged, expired, or incorrect items from the shelves.
  • Tell a supervisor when items are running low or when there is too much stock.
  • Sweep, mop, and keep aisles and work areas clean.

  • Let supervisors know about any product problems or customer concerns.
  • Follow all safety rules when lifting, moving items, or using equipment.
  • Safely use pallet jacks, carts, and other store equipment.

A Day in the Life of a Stocker:

  • Start your shift by checking in with your team leader to find out which aisles you’ll be working on.
  • Help take items off delivery trucks, sort stuff in the storage room, and get things ready for the shelves.
  • Stock items on shelves—put similar things together, turn labels forward, and check dates to make sure nothing’s old.
  • Make sure the prices and signs on the shelves match the items.
  • Remove anything that’s damaged or past its date, and let your leader know if something doesn’t look right.
  • Keep aisles clean—break down empty boxes, throw away trash, and keep carts and bins tidy.
  • Help your team set up displays or prepare for holiday and seasonal changes.
  • At the end of your shift, sweep your area, put away leftover items, and check the shelves so the daytime crew is ready to go.
