Job Description

Position Overview

The Event Assistant role is an independent contractor opportunity, providing hands-on assistance for local activations, serving as an on-site brand champion while supporting engagement, logistics, and operations. This individual helps with event setup and breakdown, site checks, inventory, asset preparation, supply purchasing, and delivery needs, along with monitoring engagement tactics and offering feedback to improve impact. Administratively, this individual may participate in periodic team meetings and complete routine time keeping and expense report activities. The independent contractor will work closely with project leads across the Client Success team at Montage.

Event Scheduling and Availability

Montage will provide event project opportunities at least 2-3 weeks in advance for planning purposes. Hours and event availability vary widely throughout the year. This opportunity is ideal for those seeking occasional work on weekdays, evenings, and weekends.

What You Will Do

Audience Engagement

• Serve as brand ambassador at local activations

• Greet and engage the event audience

• Participate in event-related training

• Communicate messaging to audience

Event Monitoring

• Assess and provide feedback on engagement tactics

• Track and document engagement metrics for reporting purposes

• Track and document event insights

Logistics

• Support local site checks

• Support set up and break down of activations

• Purchase and deliver supplies for events (as needed)

• Help manage and prepare event assets

Administration

• Participate in team meetings and calls

• Use an internal expense and time management system to accurately code and submit time and all approved work-related expenses and corresponding receipts.

Key Requirements

• Must be within commuting distance from Rockville, MD

o Ability to travel throughout the DMV area as part of regular job duties

• Ability to work non-traditional hours, including weekends and holidays

• Reliable transportation and valid driver's license

• Ability to lift 40+ lbs. and perform physical tasks involved in event set-up and take-down

• Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varied environmental conditions

• Ability to take direction from the internal team

• Scheduling flexibility to support one-off activations as needs arise

Qualifications

• Minimum of three to five (3–5) years of experiential marketing program activation experience

• At least two (2) years of field marketing and engagement experience

• Knowledge and expertise in executing experiential, in-person events

• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask

• Excellent verbal communication skills

Preferred Skills

• Experience with community and government events

• Collaborative attitude and willingness to assist as needed

• Bilingual: Spanish language preferred
