Summary

Daycare closure duties involve ensuring children's safe pick-up, completing cleaning and sanitizing tasks, documenting attendance, and securing the facility to protect children and maintain a healthy environment.

Duties

Supervise and Assist with Child Pick-Up

• Verify that adults picking up children are authorized and present proper ID if unfamiliar.
• Ensure all children are signed out on the attendance sheet before leaving.
• Help children finish activities, gather personal items like artwork, and assist with hygiene routines such as changing diapers or cleaning messy faces and hands.

Cleaning, Sanitizing, and Organizing

• Sanitize toys, pacifiers, bottles, and educational materials daily, often soaking toys in disinfectant overnight.
• Wipe down tables, counters, sinks, and all child-touch surfaces with disinfectant to prevent illness spread.
• Empty all trash cans and replace liners.
• Clean floors by vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping according to classroom needs.
• Organize toys, materials, supplies, and ensure everything is returned to its proper place for the next day.

Documentation and Communication

• Complete and file daily attendance sheets and child sign-out records.
• Send home daily reports or folders with parents containing notes on their child's activities and needs.
• Update records concerning children's progress, any incidents, or observations from the day.

Securing the Facility

• Turn off all lights, electronic devices, music, and diffusers to conserve energy and maintain safety.
• Lock all doors securely and activate any alarm systems before leaving.
• Store keys in a consistent and safe location to avoid loss.

Additional Responsibilities of Daycare Staff During Closure

• Assist with organizing toys and classrooms following program philosophy and safety standards.
• Maintain a clean and healthy environment conducive to children's well-being.
• Attend staff meetings or training sessions to stay updated on policies and procedures.

By implementing thorough  closing procedures , daycare staff ensure that all children leave safely, the facility remains hygienic, and the premises are secure, providing a positive and safe environment for the children, parents, and staff on reopening.
